Capture Leads from Your Website to Act! with vCita

Create an easy "Call to Action" button on your website with vCita and Act!.   With Act! Connect (v18 Premium+) and Zapier, you can get contacts from your website right to Act! without hiring a custom coder.  The widget you see below demonstrates vCita in action.

As you can see on this page, I make it easy for a reader to contact me with the vCita widget on the bottom right of this page.  The widget makes it easy for a prospect to ask for help by phone or filling out a form.  Then, the contact goes into Act! wihtout re-keying it.  Here is a typical setup:

System Requirements

Overview

  1. Create the vCita account and acquire the API Key
  2. Install and customize the Livesite widget from vCita into your website.  vCita works with Wordpress, html, Constant Contact, Weebly, Wix etc.
  3. In Act!, find the Web API URL
  4. Create a Zapier account
  5. In  Zapier, create the script (aka Zap) from vCita -> Act.  The script would be a new client from vCita becomes a new contact in Act!
  6. When new leads arrive from vCita, you will be e-mailed a notice and it tells you which page on your website was used as shown here.

Now you can track which pages on your site are effective and get the leads into your Act! database quickly.  Contact us if you want us to set this up using the widget on the bottom right of the page.

Act! to Outlook E-Mail Update

One of the longest running tech support problems is the Act! <-> Outlook integration for e-mail.  Too many variables at play just cause this to fail too often.

Swiftpage, the owners of Act!, listened.  With v18+ and a current subscription, a new integration has been created.

  • Act! v18.2 Premium for Windows
  • Existing Subscription Plan for Act!
  • Outlook 2013+
  • Office 365 Subscription

You can still use the existing tool at the same time.

Introducing Act! Connect

Act! Connect InfographicIntroduced in v18.2, Act! Connect is a new feature in Act! that allows any web developer to make updates to Act! records via the REST API.  Think of the REST API as a "universal translator" between disparate websites and applications hosted on the Web.

For non-coders like us, we'll use Zapier instead.  Zapier is a service that helps you connect different applications without knowing how to code.  Zapier offers a free version with some billable upgrades that integrates Act! and hundreds of other apps without learning code.

Here are some ideas:

  • When a new lead comes in from your website using WuFoo, automatically create a contact in Act!. Sample
  • Scan a business card into Act! from your mobile phone
  • Automatically adding new subscribers (contacts) from MailChimp automatically go into Act! as contacts
  • Automatically adding new contacts from Constant Contact sign up forms automatically go into Act! as contacts
  • Automatically add Google Contacts to Act! contacts
  • Automatically add Eventbrite attendees as Act! contacts

Tech notes if you want to know more:

  • The REST API for Act! was introduced in v17.1, and if you installed Act! Premium for Web; then, the REST API was available.  However, 90% of Act! clients didn't have this.  So, in Act! v18.2, Swiftpage partnered with Cloud Elements that creates all the work to enable the REST API without installing the infrastructure locally.
